Search and Rescue Training with ULA

The Iron County Search and Rescue team met with +Upper Limit Aviation - Cedar City for some training in aircraft support. Because airplanes and helicopters can be a valuable asset to search and rescue teams across the country in cases of missing persons, natural disasters, and other emergencies, more and more teams are recruiting help from the air.

Because the members of search and rescue in Iron County must be re-certified every two years, this year provided the perfect opportunity to do some additional training with one of the nation's top flight schools. To learn more about this event, read the full article from Iron County Today.

CEDAR CITY – The Iron County Search and Rescue met with Upper Limits Aviation on March 17 for aircraft support training as part of their ongoing certification.
Members of Search and Rescue must be certified through S.T.A.R.T every two years. Iron County is one of only two counties in the state that has completed this certification and is working on its level two.
Part of the training is making a safe landing zone for the helicopter and approaching and departing the aircraft safely. Helicopters can be such an asset in search and rescue work, anything from air support in spotting lost victims to transporting injured persons out of areas that would take much longer with ground crews.
