Celebrating the Holidays

Are your holiday decorations cleared for take-off? Thanks to Toni Raslevich from +Upper Limit Aviation - Cedar City for this awesome picture!

Becoming a pilot is more than just a career, it's a lifestyle. Pilots and their families become wrapped up in a job that many consider a hobby, all while getting paid just to do what they love. Every year, we witness pilots from across the country travel to Upper Limit Aviation where they fall in love with flying.

But the love of flying isn't unique to the pilot themselves, they often bring their spouse and children to one of our many events or just to check out the hangar. In fact, Upper Limit Aviation began as a result of one family's love for flying. After Upper Limit founder, Sean Reid, learned to fly helicopters, he soon taught his mother, Lois, the ways of the sky. The mother and son then went on to share their love of flying with thousands of potential pilots around the world by launching Upper Limit Aviation.

The holidays have offered us the perfect time to reflect on family, and with that, our families that love to fly!

So thanks again for the amazing photo, Toni! If you have any aviation-themed holiday decorations, we want to see them! Share them with us on social media using the hashtag #UpperLimitPilot.

Our Favorite Upper Limit Videos

Sometimes, when I have nothing better to do I find myself searching YouTube to keep busy on a slow day. And while I love cat videos as much as the next guy, helicopter videos are what have won me over. I often tell myself that I'm just going to watch one or two, but there are thousands of them available, and before I know it I've spent 20 minutes watching the best chopper videos on the web. While there are a lot of great aviation videos out there, I admit I'm partial to the videos uploaded by Upper Limit. The music, the pilots, and most importantly the footage is AMAZING. Every time I watch some of these videos, it makes me want to make the decision all over again to come to Upper Limit.

We've rounded up some of our favorite videos from the Upper Limit channel, but you can check out all of the videos here.

Mike Mower is the type of pilot we all want to be

This auto-rotation makes me feel like I'm the one flying

If everyday is like this, I wish I had signed up years ago

Spoiler Alert: When I get married I want it to go down exactly like this

I love a good ball game, but to me, this was the highlight

Upper Limit Proves How Air Shows Are Done

In the industry, air shows can be kind of a big deal. To future pilots or those who just love to watch incredible machines in the air, these shows across the country draw huge crowds. Upper Limit has had the opportunity to participate in a few, and we've rounded up the best pictures we could find to show other flight schools how it's done.

OK, so maybe it wasn't an air show, but parades are still a great way to show off the ULA fleet.

When Upper Limit came to the air show in St. George, Utah, we brought a helicopter and a fixed wing plane for people to see up close and personal.

Maybe Upper Limit wasn't the star of the show, but sometimes it couldn't help but feel like we were.

Sometimes we don't even make our fans come to us; we go to them. This time we show students just how awesome it is to be a pilot.

Who can forget the Memphis Air Show, when Upper Limit had one of the best booths and even rolled out a red carpet for our future students.

We give a lot of love to our helicopters, but sometimes the fixed-wing program steals the show.

At some events, it isn't about what's on the ground but what's in the sky.

Throwback Thursday: The Boy Scouts

Today we're throwing it back to when we had some special guests at +Upper Limit Aviation - Salt Lake City a few months ago. These boy scouts took some time to come check out our program as well as get a few feet off the ground. Thanks for the visit, boys!

Total Eclipse of the Chopper

It's not everyday that you can capture an awesome shot in the sky. But for our photographer, everything came into place for this picture-perfect evening flight. In Southern Utah, we experience dramatic sunsets on a regular basis, with deep oranges and yellows filling the sky as the sun sinks below the horizon. But as awesome as the view is from the ground, one can only imagine how spectacular it is from the sky itself. So when we went for a flight, we saw the perfect opportunity to blend together a beautiful sunset with one of our favorite Upper Limit helicopters.

Caught in the Moment

Our commercial students flying HX, a Bell 206 LongRanger at +Upper Limit Aviation - Cedar City.

You know that feeling you get as a student when you first take off and you're hovering just above the ground? And how intense it is the first few times and after a while you get used to it, but it's still there in the pit of your gut every time you take off? It's like a kid on Christmas, it isn't as overwhelming as when you were young, but it's still something that you look forward to and can't wait to experience again. Don't you just wish that you could freeze that moment sometimes; and that when it is finally time to come back down to reality that it all feels like it went by way too fast? Well, that's why  we're lucky to capture moments like this. When students are still new to flying and we can freeze that moment forever as they lift off from the ground and begin to soar towards their dreams. Thanks, Ben, for the photo!
